We loved all the history, great sites and natural beauty we experienced especially the Grand Pyramids, Sphinx, Petra, Negev desert, Galilee and points in between! Meeting up with some of the Israelis whom we’ve met in Cincinnati in the past was another highlight.

Although despite much planning for this trip, we found that we were ill-prepared for the weather. Thinking “Middle East,” I was planning on warmer weather, but the nighttime lows and the strong winds were very chilly! Luckily, I had packed 2 of my favorite RTW women’s hoodies, and looking back now at our photos, it shows that I pretty much alternated between the camel and charcoal hoodies on opposite days. Alan also packed two men’s hoodies, which saved him from the cold too. It was fun sharing the RTW story with people along the way and inviting new friends to “feel my arm” to see how soft the fabric is!

The Mediterranean Sea was beautiful in Netanya, Israel.
Local apparel company is proud contributor to The Pig’s
growing social and environmental responsibility efforts.

CINCINNATI – For the second year in a row, The Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon has chosen Repair the World® apparel to equip the race’s "Green Team" with their sustainably manufactured T-shirts.

All shirts provided by Repair the World® Apparel are made from 100% recycled materials. The company’s innovative Reparel™ fabric is made by blending recycled cotton and recycled polyester to create incredibly soft, durable, and sustainable apparel.

"The Flying Pig Marathon continues to make great strides to assure the race is a thoroughly green event," said Repair the World® Co-Founder, Mark Heiman. "We are grateful that we can again contribute to The Pig’s sustainability efforts with shirts made from 100% recycled materials."

The Marathon’s Green Team is a group of over one hundred volunteers that help keep the race as environmentally friendly as possible. Each year the Green Team participates in finish line composting efforts, hydration area clean up, and other activities that keep the race green.

Last year, the Flying Pig Marathon was one of four running events to receive certification from the Council for Responsible Sports (CRS), an organization dedicated to monitoring the social and environmental impacts of sporting events. The Pig either met or exceeded environmental standards across six separate categories CRS uses to judge an event’s sustainability efforts.

"From the hundreds of green team volunteers, to the use of compostable plates and cups, The Pig has engaged in sustainability efforts across the entirety of its operations." said Repair the World® Co-Founder Alan Brown. "It’s my hope that other marathons will begin to follow The Pig’s lead. We are very proud that Repair the World® is once again including our custom, eco-friendly T-Shirts as part of the marathon’s green efforts."

Every year on April 22nd, Repair the World® apparel celebrates Earth Day with Earth lovers all around the world. Earth Day marks the anniversary of what is considered the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. It is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.

We believe that Earth Day is a perfect opportunity to share the importance of being environmentally friendly with the next generation. We encourage parents to take advantage of this day as an opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of living an environmentally conscious lifestyle with their children. After all, they will be the ones inheriting our Earth! By encouraging your children to recycle, or creating innovative ideas for repurposing household items, can make for fun crafts and family activities. Teaching our children the value of natural ingredients and organically grown products can help lead them to live eco-friendly, adult lives.

We feel so strongly about this, that for Earth Day and the entire month of April we are offering 50% off ALL of our <a href="http://www.repairtheworldnow.com/categories/Kid%27s/" title="Repair the World® Kids"target="_blank">kid’s products. What about you, the parent making the purchase? We have plenty of <a href="http://www.repairtheworldnow.com/earth-day-sale/" title="Earth Day Sale"target="_blank">Earth Day Sale items for adults, too. Teaching your child and others about the value of giving back and using eco-friendly products can lead to a happy, healthier, world for all to enjoy.

As members of the global community, we strive to protect our mother earth by living our lives in a manner that is environmentally-friendly. But, did you know that our furry friends can live eco-friendly too? I am a proud mama to three very different kinds furry children: a dog, a cat, and a ferret. My crew and I use many green products geared towards recycling and being environmentally-friendly. I wanted to share just a few ways that our pets can also conserve the planet’s resources and live green!

<a href="http://www.yesterdaysnews.com/Products/CatLitter.aspx" title="Yesterday's News® Cat Litter"target="_blank">Yesterday’s News® Cat Litter is a Purina product that I use and love for both my cat and my ferret. It is made from recycled newspaper and the package is recyclable as well. It is non-toxic, super absorbent and locks odors in. This product is good to our environment, AND it works really well! (Yesterday’s News® brand has also teamed up with the <a href="http://www.arborday.org/" title="Arbor Day Foundation"target="_blank">Arbor Day Foundation® for their Replant, Reuse & Recycle campaign, <a href="http://www.yesterdaysnews.com/TreesOfTomorrow/" title="Trees of Tomorrow"target="_blank">Trees of Tomorrow, to replant trees and preserve our precious environment.)

There are so many eco-friendly pet products available from natural pet care and cleaning products. From <a href="http://www.hartz.com/Hartz_Products.aspx" title="Hartz"target="_blank">Hartz hypoallergenic grooming products (fragrance-and-dye-free), to organic pet toys from companies like <a href="http://www.simplyfido.com/aboutus.html" title="Simply Fido"target="_blank">Simply Fido, to eco-friendly dog beds from <a href="http://www.worldwise.com/" title="Worldwise"target="_blank">Worldwise Inc., which offer a wide range of sustainable products for cats and dogs!

If you are house breaking a puppy, <a href="http://www.simplesolution.com/products/training-solutions.html" title="Simple Solutions"target="_blank">Simple Solution offers Eco-Care training pads that are made from recycled fiber to help reduce waste. <a href="http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/KnowledgeBase/KnowledgeBaseSearch.aspx" title="Only Natural Pet Store"target="_blank">Only Natural Pet Store carries a wide variety of natural, holistic and organic products such as <a href="http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/BioBag-Biodegradable-Dog-Waste-Bags/124014.aspx" title="BioBag"target="_blank">BioBag biodegradable dog waste bags.

At <a href="https://www.repairtheworldnow.com/" title="Repair the World® apparel"target="_blank">Repair the World® apparel, we love our pets as much as we love our environment! These are just a few of our favorite companions creating eco-friendly, pet-friendly products that help us on our mission to repair the world!

By Micky Osterman

Recently, the weather has been getting warmer here in Ohio, and as winter turns to spring, I am excited to spend my nights sitting outside, enjoying the outdoors. I have found that candleholders are a perfect centerpiece for outdoor patio furniture, so I searched the Internet for ways to make candleholders out of recycled materials. I found a fun and simple way to turn old glass jars into playful and pretty candleholders.

What You’ll Need:

A glass jar

Leftover tissue paper (or newspaper/magazine)

Glue

A form brush

A tealight candle

1. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been saving my empty glass jars (from pasta sauce, jelly, etc). I cleaned out the jars and tore the labels off of the glass. I also cleaned and kept the lids. Then, I left the glass jars and lids out to dry.

2. Next, I found old tissue paper that I had used to wrap a friend’s birthday present earlier this year. I cut the tissue paper into small squares. (Instead of tissue paper, you could also use old newspapers or magazines)

By: Janine Kick and Micky Osterman

Recently, we blogged about Rob Lake, a <a href="http://blog.repairtheworldnow.com/2012/02/a-magical-supporter/" title="A Magical Supporter"target="_blank">magical supporter of <a href="https://www.repairtheworldnow.com/" title="Repair the World® apparel"target="_blank">Repair the World® apparel. Lucky for us, however, Rob isn’t the only public figure who is dedicated to supporting a great cause. <a href="http://www.davidpakman.com/" title="The David Pakman Show"target="_blank">David Pakman, the host of The David Pakman Show (TDPS), is another committed supporter of Repair the World® apparel.

David Pakman is a man with a lot to say, and based on the popularity of his show, the world is listening! David has been hosting The David Pakman Show since he was 21 years old (almost a decade now!). He is recognized as the youngest, nationally syndicated political host. The people that David chooses to interview on his show may surprise you, as they are at times some of the most controversial and extremist personalities of our time. David’s notorious interviewees include members of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas (who picket military funerals), Terry Jones (who imfamously planned to burn Korans on 9/11 two years ago), and Bryan Fischer (an anti-gay radio host).

So why does David give these individuals a platform to broadcast what some consider hate-speech? It is because David is a firm believer in understanding through dialogue. He gives everyone a chance to speak. David has often found that when he allows a controversial guest to share their message on his show, the discussion and exposure that results can damage the public’s perception of the cause, rather than benefit it.

David’s unique style as a “progressive talk show” host has garnered him fans from all over the country. His show, which began as an audio blog, expanded to commercial radio outlets in 2007. In 2009, David put cameras in his studio and expanded to television and Internet. Recently, TDPS celebrated another milestone of success, when his show expanded from two days a week, to four days a week. With nearly 150 affiliates, over 10,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, and 11 million views, the show’s popularity continues to grow. Fans can support the show by paying a small subscription fee to receive access to extra content.

When fans began asking David for products with the TDPS logo, he was hesitant to start producing merchandise. David believes in transparency, in both business goals and manufacturing practices, and he was committed to finding a company that shared this beliefs and values. It was not until he learned of Repair the World® apparel, and our message of transparency and sustainability, that David felt ready to offer his fans TDPS items. He now sells t-shirts and hoodies printed on Repair the World® apparel, and includes his <a href="http://www.davidpakman.com/gear/" title="TDPS Gear"target="_blank">merchandise in his <a href="http://www.davidpakman.com/membership/" title="TDPS Membership"target="_blank">membership packages.

Last month, David was featured in a comprehensive article from BusinessWest, <a href="http://businesswest.com/2012/02/talk-of-the-town" title="BusinessWest - Talk of the Town"target="_blank">“Talk of the Town,” where he gave us a shout out. We can’t thank David enough for his continued support of Repair the World® apparel! A huge thanks goes out to David and all of our supporters!

Recently, I’ve been giving my charcoal <a href="http://www.repairtheworldnow.com/reparel-womens-serene-v-neck-tunic-top/" title="Serene V-Neck Tunic Top"target="_blank">Serene V-Neck Tunic Top a little extra wear and tear! The weather in Ohio has been unseasonably warm this winter, and this top is the perfect weight to wear with some simple accessories. This Serene V-Neck Tunic Top is comfortable and perfect for any occasion, whether you’re going to class, running errands, or going out for the night. I’ve included pictures of my favorite, "go-to" combinations for this casual and classic top.
